Behold The Statue Bleeds

In grade school, the bitter, hateful, child-hating nuns warned us again and again that our bodies were sins, our heads were full of sin, and even one "impure thought" would wind us up in Hell forever.  We were taught to revere the purity of the Virgin Mary, represented everywhere by statues, statues, statues..until the idea got into our heads that in order to avoid hell, we had to live as a statue.
